Local Teenager Fights Leukemia with Community Support

Some might know Tyler Grossman from the local ballpark, hearing his name on the Highlight Zone, or maybe he delivered you dinner from the New Haven Domino’s Pizza. Tyler attended Central Lutheran School and graduated from Concordia Lutheran High School in 2021. He excitedly started Saint Francis as a freshman this year playing football for the team. Over the last year, he noticed a change in his overall health, losing over 50+ pounds in a relatively short period of time. Just a few months ago he was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. Doctors started aggressive chemotherapy treatments on him weekly down at Riley Children’s Hospital in Indianapolis. Tyler was advised to take a medical withdrawal from Saint Francis for this semester.

The TylerStrong Committee was soon formed to help consolidate fundraising efforts for Tyler and his family.

His mom, Tammy, has taken a leave from her job to care for Tyler. They will be hosting a “Party in the Park” to benefit Tyler at Schnelker Park on May 26, 2022, from 6-9 pm. The fundraiser features music by JON DURNELL, drinks served by WINNER’s CIRCLE, pizza from DOMINO’s, SNOWBIZ shaved ice, burgers, hotdogs, and more! Admission is FREE and everyone is WELCOME – We appreciate all food/drink purchases and donations to support Tyler. All proceeds go towards Tyler Grossman’s fight against Leukemia. If you cannot attend the event please go to https://gofund.me/301f83f6 to donate.

Tyler’s treatments have not been easy on him as he entered round 2 of his Chemotherapy last week. He has been encouraged by recent test results that show that the treatments are working. Tyler and his family appreciate all of our community’s generosity!
