Lady Warriors fall to Patriots

The Woodlan Lady Warriors opened ACAC play up Friday evening where visiting Jay County outlasted the Warriors for a 46-43 victory.

Woodlan jumped in front 14-9 at the end of one quarter but the second stanza belonged to Jay County. The Lady Patriots totaled 18 points in the stanza while limiting the Warriors to eight in seizing a 27-22 halftime advantage.

Each team scored eight points in the third quarter to keep Jay County on top 35-30 entering the final period. Woodlan scored 13 markers in the final stanza but it wasn’t enough as the Patriots bucketed 11 to wrap up the 46-43 win.

Dakotah Krohn led the way for the Lady Warriors with 16 points while Avah Smith, Taylor Kneubuhler, Brianna Roney and Olivia Baumert all bucketed six markers. Katlyn Crosby had the remaining three Woodlan points.

Smith was a force on the boards for Woodlan with 17 rebounds while dishing out two assists and picking up three steals. Krohn added four rebounds and Knuebuhler dished out five assists. Baumert had a pair of assists as well for the Lady Warriors, who fall to 4-2 overall and 0-1 in the ACAC.
