Late Bomber Score Ends Antwerp Season

EDON – The Antwerp football team gave it everything they had Saturday night in Division VII football action at Edon as the host Bombers needed a late score to rally for a 26-21 victory.

Following a scoreless first quarter, Edon got on the board on a one yard touchdown run from Drew Gallehue for a 6-0 lead.

Antwerp, though, answered with a 34-yard touchdown toss from quarterback Carson Altimus to Landon Brewer that tied the contest at 6-6.

The Bombers would grab a 14-6 lead at the intermission with a ten-yard scoring strike from Gallehue to Caden Nester.

In the third quarter, Antwerp struck first with a 27-yard scamper by Carson Altimus before Edon responded with a 20-yard touchdown pass from Gallehue to Hayden Dye that wrapped up the third quarter scoring.

After Antwerp rallied to seize a 21-20 lead following a one-yard plunge for a score by Altimus, it was Edon that struck late in the fourth quarter on a nine-yard run for a score from Gannon Ripke to wrap up the victory.

Altimus led the way for Antwerp with 124 rushing yards on 14 carries while also completing 18 of 29 passes for 177 yards. Reid Lichty ran for 47 yards on a dozen attempts as well for the Archers.

Brewer paced Antwerp with seven receptions for 106 yards and Parker Moore posted five catches for 31 yards. 

Hayden Wagner and Kaden Recker led the Antwerp defense with seven tackles each while Reid Lichty and Stephon Walker both posted five tackles.

Recker and Carson Altimus each had a pair of pass breakups with Jagger Landers and Mason Steel recording two quarterback hurries apiece.

Seniors wrapping up their Archer football careers were Hunter Sproles, Austin Wade, Kaden Recker, Stephon Walker, Jagger Landers, Hayden Wagner, Trayce Lengacher, Caleb Wilson, Mason Steel, Kaden Miller, Kaden Phares, Nathan Dunstan and Brady Hatlevig.
