What’s Happening at the Library in October

The Paulding County Carnegie Library has Covid Tests available for pick up. Call the main library or any branch and the tests will be delivered curbside. 

The library will be closed on Monday, October 11 in observance of Columbus Day.  

The Adult Section is gearing up for some new projects. We have a new Cricut that we are learning to use. Be sure to stay tuned into Facebook, and we will let you know when that will be launched. We are still collecting stories for our “Covid Chronicles”. We cannot stress enough how important it is to keep a record of the strange times we live in. Call or stop by if you want to learn how you can help us with this project. It’s a chance to let your voice be heard by future generations. The monthly cookbook club meeting will be held on Monday, October 25th at 5:30 PM. This month’s theme is “Tailgating” bring a prepared dish and a copy of the recipe you used, and we all get to try something delicious. Tailgating means any recipe that would be geared towards a fall party. If there is a program you would like to see, or a skill you would like to learn, contact Ali at the library and we will try to make it happen. The Children’s room is excited to have the return of Preschool Storytime on Wednesday at 10:00 AM. The hour is filled with stories read by our own “Kooky Kirk” with music and crafts. Be sure to stop by on Wednesdays. The Children’s room is planning its “Fall Party” for Thursday, October 28 from 4:30-6:30, come dressed in your favorite costume and prepared for tricks and treats. Curbside delivery will also be available.

The Antwerp branch library is having storytime on Wednesday at 11:00 AM for all ages. Book Club is scheduled for October 4 at 6:00 PM. The Cook Book club takes place October 18 at 5:45 PM And new is the Crochet Class, call the call the library to sign up or find out any information on these or upcoming activities. The Payne branch library has Toddler Times on Tuesdays at 11:00 AM for all ages. “Mondays After School Fun”, come chill with your friends and hang out at the library. Snacks, games and crafts are available. Just stop in and say “Hi”. For more information call the library at 419-263-3333.

The Grover Hill branch library will be celebrating their one-year anniversary with a drawing. Be sure to stop by and get entered.  Munchkin Club storytime dates are October 18 and 25th at 11:00 AM for kids aged 6 and under. Preregistration is not required. Call 419-567-1717 for any information on these or any upcoming programs. 

The Oakwood branch library will be having storytime every Thursday at 11:00 AM and 1:30 PM. This month we are offering Senior Bingo, October 14 at 11:00 AM.  Adult coloring is every Tuesday of the month. Each Friday there is a kids make and take craft available. The Oakwood Library Association are having a carry out meal on October 7, on the menu is Lasagna. On October 14 they will be serving marinated turkey. October 21 chili is on the menu. Cost for the meals is a $10 donation. Meals are available from 4-6PM, curbside delivery.  Call 419-594-3337

Main hours are Monday through Thursday 10-7, Friday 10-5 and Saturday 10-1. The branch hours are Monday and Thursday 10-7, Tuesday Wednesday and Fiday 10-5, Saturday 10-1.

Friends of the Paulding County Carnegie Library will meet Monday October 11th at 6:00 PM at the Buy the Book bookstore. (Even though the library is closed for Columbus Day)

Black Swamp Bookworms will meet October 11th at 6:30 PM in the bookstore located in the Annex. The group is reading “A Thousand Splendid Suns” by Khaled Hosseini. Everyone is welcome to attend.
