Two to Run 48 Miles in 48 Hours for Local Non-Profit

Two Van Wert locals are expressing their generosity through an extreme running event, with all funds raised being donated to Haven of Hope Men’s Homeless Shelter located in Van Wert, OH. Ultra-runners Shane Leeth and Nick Leeth will be completing the David Goggins Challenge beginning on March 5th, 2021.  The David Goggins challenge involves running 4 miles every 4 hours for 48 hours. Shane and Nick will start their runs Friday, March 5, 2021 at 11:00 PM and will be running at 11, 3, and 7 until the final run on Sunday, March 7, 2021 at 7:00 PM.  Interested runners are encouraged to reach out to the Haven of Hope Facebook page to run a leg or two with Shane and Nick Leeth.

Shane Leeth states, “Running the 48 hour challenge is a great opportunity to test my physical and mental fitness. As the day goes on and the fatigue begins to set in you need to start relying on your mind to get you up and out the door. This also gives me an opportunity to give back to the community by raising money doing something I truly enjoy.”  Nick Leeth adds, “Mental Resilience has always been a topic that has fascinated me. This 4x4x48 challenge that David Goggins has started is a great way to test my own mental resilience and raise money for a great cause. I believe that it is important to give back to our local community, and I am very excited to raise money and awareness for Haven of Hope’s mission.”

It was important for Shane and Nick to find a local mission that benefits those living in the Van Wert community. “Haven of Hope provides a wonderful service by providing local homeless people a warm, safe place to sleep each night. In addition to providing a safe haven, the organization has strong Christian values and seeks to lead those that need shelter into a more productive, independent life,” stated Leeth.
