ANTWERP POLICE REPORTS

The following are the most recent police reports of the Antwerp Police Department.

On September 8th, a report of a suspicious person at North Garden Apartments was received. Officer responded and it was determined the person was a census worker.

On September 8th, a vehicle was stopped at Kroos and Canal. Driver was given a warning for no front windshield.

On September 7th, a resident reported receiving an email that her PayPal was getting charges for small amounts of money. The resident knew nothing had been purchased and called the number provided. As a result of the conversation and going back and forth with the person on the phone, she was scammed out of approximately $15,000. Case is under investigation and the Attorney General has been contacted.

On September 7th, a suspicious person on a motorcycle was reported driving up and down Kroos Dr. The driver and motorcycle was located and he claimed to be looking for his motorcycle helmet that fell off the back.

On September 5th, a motor vehicle accident was reported at Sunoco gas station. The case was investigated and a report was prepared.

On September 3rd, a motor vehicle accident was reported in front of the Root Beer Stand. An accident report was prepared and one driver was cited for assured clear distance.

On September 3rd, a domestic dispute was reported at North Garden Apartments. Officer responded and two people were arrested and transported to Paulding County Jail.

On September 1st,  the Antwerp Police Department received a speed measure trailer from ODOT. The trailer is parked at Canal Street and will be moved around to various streets over the next few weeks.

On September 1st, two suspicious vehicles parked near Antwerp football field was reported. Officer responded and it was determined it was a local business owner.

On September 1st, a hit/skip accident was reported at River Street and Wentworth. A vehicle left the roadway, hit guide wire and almost a house, then returned back to road. The suspected vehicle is a 2006-2007 Saturn SUV four door. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Antwerp Police Department. 

On September 1st, a motor vehicle accident was reported at W. River Street. A vehicle was backing from the driveway and struck the resident’s fence. The accident was investigated and a report was prepared. 

On August 31st, while on patrol, an officer observed two deer run across Main Street. One of the deer continued in alley west bound, the other deer ran into the residence at 401 S. Main, into the enclosed porch and dove through a window on the other side. The homeowner was notified and a report was prepared.

On August 30th, a vehicle was stopped on Main Street and the driver was cited for driving under suspension. An item was also recovered that contained suspected methamphetamine residue. 

On August 27th, a vehicle was stopped on Cleveland Street. Driver was cited for  driving under suspension and also a passenger that was hiding in the back seat was arrested on a warrant and was transported to Paulding County Jail.

On August 27th, a complaint was received in reference to a resident on Daggett  Street having several cats that roam the neighborhood. An officer went to the location and informed the resident that the village has an ordinance against feeding cats outside and allowing cats to roam on other people properties.

On August 27th, a motor vehicle accident was reported at Antwerp Post Office. An officer responded and a report was prepared. 

On August 26th, political signs were reported damaged at residence on Canal Street. The case is under investigation. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Antwerp Police Department. 

On August 26th, a semi hit the yellow pillar at the intersection of Main Street and Canal. The vehicle’s tire blew, causing mulch and debris to be blown on to the porch of the resident. Officer responded and a report was prepared. 

On August 25th, it was reported that at school bus stop in the library parking lot there was a Python snake. The caller believed the snake was dead. The snake was located and it was found to be deceased.
