LIVE OAK HISTORIC GRAVEYARD TOUR

From 2018’s Tour, Tim & Renee Boss portray historical figures at Live Oak Cemetery.

Who’s getting ready for cooler weather and of course Halloween? Back by popular demand, CoRP (Community Revitalizing Paulding) is excited to announce their second Live Oak Historic Graveyard Tour! Join us on Saturday, October 19th at Live Oak Cemetery to learn about some intriguing people, listen to tragic stories, and experience eerie sights and sounds. Actors portraying the deceased will speak in first person about their life, their story, and their death. This tour is focused on the history of the deceased and is a family friendly event. No one will jump out at you, no one will purposely scare you, but after hearing some of the stories related to the departed buried in Live Oak we can’t guarantee you won’t get a chill up your spine. With the help of the John Paulding Historical Society and other history buffs in the community, we will highlight several deceased with stories that will astonish you!

CoRP is partnering with the Cemetery Board to organize the graveyard tour. “Last year we had close to 100 people take the tour which astonished us! We were so thrilled to be able to help out the Cemetery Board in some way while also raising money for downtown revitalization,” says Mikayla Pieper, executive director of the Paulding Chamber of Commerce. “The graveyard tour fits the Halloween theme but has that historic piece that people are intrigued by.” Tours start at 3:00 PM and run until 6:00 PM. The tour lasts about an hour so come prepared with comfy shoes.

Half of the proceeds will benefit CoRP to help with downtown revitalization and the other half of the proceeds will benefit the cemetery board to allow them to do some maintenance and improvements on the grounds. Collaboration is key in the efforts of moving forward.

The mausoleum will be the meeting place for all coming to take the tour, and parking will be across the street in the Paulding School’s parking lot. Come if you dare, and learn more about the harrowing, captivating and stunning past of Paulding County.
