“Welcome to Five Span Park” reads the sign at the new boat dock on the Auglaize River. On Saturday, September 14 the Park at the Five Span Bridge in Junction, Ohio unveiled to the public its new access site that sits on 1.5 acres of ground that has been designated the by Paulding County Parks Board as a new park.

The work put in by the Friends of the Parks has been incredible! So much time has been taken to make the site worthy of being called a park, even though there is still much work to do. The Friends of the Parks understands that there is still much work to be done. A grant has been applied for in the amount of $25,000 for making many more improvements to the intended green space.

From the Auglaize River the dock says it all: Welcome to Five Span Park. More pictures at westbendnews.net

Quite a few people were on hand to watch the opening along with the Friends who made available food for everyone.

It was a perfectly pleasant day out on the beautiful Auglaize River. You can watch the video at West Bend New’s Facebook page or YouTube channel.

Tim Franklin pointed out all the donations and contributions of time and funding to various groups including Tyler Fenter of Superior Foundation and Waterproofing. He took the concrete donated from Baker Shindler and built the forms for the steps and stone anchors. It looked great! Tim also mentioned the work that Jim Pendergrast did with cleaning up the shoreline and getting the stone in place from Stone Co.
