AKRON – With a trip to the state finals on the line, Antwerp catcher Karsyn Brumett sent the Archers to the state championship game with a 1-0 victory over Peebles in the Division IV softball state semifinals Friday at Firestone Stadium in Akron.

The Lady Archers needed only the one hit, getting Brumett’s shot over the outfield wall to pick up the 1-0 victory.

Along with the big hit from the Antwerp catcher, the blue and white also got yet another solid performance from junior pitcher Carlie Hanes.

Hanes struck out 13 hitters and limited Peebles to four hits and one walk in the contest.

Peebles senior pitcher Madison Pierce nearly matched Hanes pitch for pitch. The Indian hurler tied a record for strikeouts in a state tournament game with 15 while limiting the Archers to four hits and a walk.

Karsyn Brumett led the way offensively for Antwerp with a single and a home run while Alyssa Fuller also chipped in a double. Tiera Gomez picked up a single as well for the Lady Archers.

Four players all had singles for the Lady Indians.

The senior trio of Kylie Sims, Jerilin Toller and Madison Pierce all had singles as did sophomore Kyndell Lloyd.
