Glen W. “Bud” Essex, 78, formerly of Hicksville, died Wednesday, October 24, 2018 at the University of Toledo Medical Center, Toledo, Ohio.
Bud was born on March 17, 1940 in Ft. Wayne, Indiana, the son of the late Calvin and Enid (Funk) Essex.
He was a 1958 graduate of Northside High School in Ft. Wayne.
Bud served in the Nation Guard for 3 years and was in the Army Reserves for 5 years.
He worked at Community Memorial Hospital in the maintenance department for 20 years.
Bud was a member of the St. John Lutheran Church in Hicksville, where he sang in the choir. He was also a member of the Hicksville Kiwanis Club, where he served several terms as president and was a member of the Hicksville Village Players.
Bud is survived by his children, Bruce, Lori (Joe) Sarnes; six grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; siblings, John (Kathy) Essex and Donna (Vern) Doehrman.
He was preceded in death by Nancy Essex, siblings, Lowell and Virginia.
Funeral services for Bud will be Tuesday at 11:00 at Smith & Brown Funeral Home, Hicksville. Visitation will be Monday from 2:00 to 6:00 at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Cemetery, Ft. Wayne, Indiana.
