Third Quarter Dooms Antwerp

ANTWERP – Fairview outscored host Antwerp 21-0 in the third quarter and the Apaches pulled away for a 41-20 victory over the Archers in Green Meadows Conference football action Friday night.

Trailing 14-7 at the midway point, the Apaches took the opening possession of the second half and picked up an eight-yard touchdown run from Luke Timbrook to tie the game at 14-14.

Fairview then took the lead for good on a nine-yard plunge by Timbrook that put the black and gold on top 20-14.

The Apaches then seized control of the game on the ensuing Antwerp possession.

After the Archers drove to the Fairview 25-yard line, Cade Ripke picked off a Keaton Altimus pass and returned it 78-yards for a score to put the Apaches on top 28-14.

Fairview then added a 28-yard touchdown pass from Cade Polter to Caleb Frank that extended the Apache advantage to 35-14.

The visitors made it 41-14 on a five yard toss from Polter to Riley Lucas before Altimus hooked up with Luke Brewer on a six-yard scoring strike for Antwerp to complete the game’s scoring.

Fairview’s Russ Zeedyk scored the first half touchdown for the Apaches on a 49-yard pass from Polter.

Antwerp got a pair of second quarter touchdown passes from Altimus. The Archer quarterback hooked up with Cole Seslar on a five-yard pass to get the blue and white on the scoreboard before finding Jacob Savina on a 12-yard toss to make it 14-7.

Altimus ended the night 36 of 57 for 292 yards with Brewer hauling in 10 passes for 114 yards. Seslar caught 15 passes for 88 yards for Antwerp.

Timbrook totaled 110 yards on 17 carries for Fairview with Polter running for 61 yards. Polter also was 17 of 29 passing for 190 yards in the contest.
