Payne Relief 5K

The runners are on the line to start the race.

9th annual Payne Relief 5K took place on Saturday, July 28th bright & early at 8:00 a.m. at the Payne Ball Park across from the elementary school. There was a small group of runners and walkers that turned out for this event while juggling other summer activities. Each year the Payne Relief 5K chooses a charitable organization to support with its proceeds and this year they chose to support P.A.S.S.

The runners started in the road in front of the elementary, and then ran along a marked out path out of town and back in. The old track that wraps around the ball field was the last leg of the race.

The Payne Relief 5K Overall winner, Ben Collins.

Geoff Hyman of Payne Chamber of Commerce coordinated the event. Irene Benschneider manned the snack station for the runners after they finished. Several other sponsors volunteered their time to direct runners along the path or man water stations.

Sponsors included: Benschneider Auto, Hooker Enterprises & Painting, Paulding Dairy Queen, Puckerbrush Pizza, and Schultz Automotive

Ron Etzler and Chad Clutz helped pass out times to runners as they crossed the finish line.
