Local Teen Named to USSSA All-American Softball Team

Samantha Rigsby, a 14 year old student at Antwerp High School, has some exciting times coming up very soon! She was named to the USSSA’s All-American Softball team. She will be playing with the team in a tournament in Viera, Florida the last week of July.

Samantha has been passionate about softball since she began playing at the age of 4. Being the youngest sibling of three, she knew she needed to stand on her own and exhibit her own talents in the family. Softball began as a hobby for her, but now is dreaming of a college scholarship and even the Olympics. She is an exemplary student at Antwerp Local School.

Before making the USSSA team, Samantha also has played for the Antwerp Ball Association and in 2016, she made the Leo Fusion Travel team. She plays a variety of positions on the field — third base is her favorite, but has also played shortstop, right, center, and left field, and catcher.

This trip will be very expensive for her and her mother, who plans to accompany her to Florida for the tournament, and that is where she is hoping she will have some outside support. This is a huge step for a girl to take, and any kind of encouragement and support would be greatly appreciated by her and the family. Please send any encouraging letters or sponsorships to Samantha Rigsby, 111 N Harmann Road, Antwerp, OH 45813.
