Krystal Albright Returned Home With State Champion Trophy

Krystal Albright, of Paulding, traveled to Columbus for the Special Olympics 2018 Ohio State Summer Games. The Games were held June 22-24 on The Ohio State University campus. In the past Krystal has taken many medals and trophies for her cycling. Last year was her fourth year of earning the “Cycling Champion ~ Female Division” trophy. She had practiced hard this year with the hopes of returning back to Paulding with the trophy for the fifth year. 

It was a hectic week-end with lots of activities going on but Krystal stayed focused on why she was there and on Saturday she received Silver in her 1 mile race. She finished 94/100th of one second behind first place. In both her 3 mile and her 5 mile race she finished with a strong lead ahead of the other cyclists. In both races she finished in first place, taking Golds. They then accumulated everyone`s times to see how they placed in State. Krystal placed first in State in the female division. She did it. State Champion for the 5th year. What an achievement! 

Krystal also currently holds the title “Athlete of the Year 2017-2018 Award. An award she received for being chosen the top athlete out of an estimated 27,000 athletes in Ohio. This award is for the athlete whose life exemplifies true skill, courage, sharing and joy. An athlete who has great sportsmanship. One who has a love for their sport.
