On Wednesday, April 19, 2017, first graders from Antwerp Elementary School delivered 50 care bags to the NICUs at Dupont and Parkview Hospitals in Fort Wayne. This was the culmination of a persuasive project that lasted for several weeks. The entire first grade launched, promoted, and advertised a popcorn fundraiser at the school to raise money to purchase items for the bags. They also made phone calls to local businesses and families to raise additional funds. Once everything was purchased, students assembled the bags and wrote letters to the families to include in the bags. The staff at the hospitals were very appreciative of the first graders’ efforts to care for families with a baby in the NICU.
