VAN WERT AREA COMMUNITY CONCERT BAND TO PLAY AT MARSH AUDITORIUM

2015 VWACCB

The Van Wert Area Community Concert Band (VWACCB), under the direction of band director Richard Sherrick, will be presenting a free Christmas concert for the entire Van Wert community at the Marsh Foundation School Auditorium located at 1229 Lincoln Highway in Van Wert on December 21st at 7:00 p.m. Each year, the VWACCB travels to three local nursing homes to entertain their residents by presenting them with a joyful variety of Christmas songs.  This year they’ve added the Marsh Foundation to their schedule, whose auditorium offers ample space for not only the residents of the Marsh Foundation, but also for the family, friends, and neighbors of the band members along with anyone in the Van Wert area to celebrate the Christmas season with them.  This will be the VWACCB’s final concert of the season.

The band consists of residents from Van Wert, Paulding, and Mercer counties ranging in age from 16 – 91 years old. They begin practicing each year in early May and put on three lively shows at Fountain Park in Van Wert throughout the summer months that have entertained hundreds of people. The band plays a variety of patriotic songs every Memorial Day in Ohio City at a moving ceremony honoring those lives lost in combat and every July 4th at the Van Wert Historical Museum celebrating the birth of our nation.  They conclude the summer season with a concert at the Van Wert County Fair each year. After a short break, they begin practicing for the Christmas season adding new music each time to entertain the deserving residents of the nursing homes.

So come on out to the Marsh Auditorium on December 21st at 7:00 p.m. and celebrate the Christmas season with your fellow Van Wert area friends and neighbors.  There will be snacks and refreshments for all who attend. Let’s make this a Christmas tradition for years to come! If you want more information, please call Michael Baldea at 419-238-3030.
