The game between the local rivals—Paulding vs Wayne Trace — at the Panthers stadium was rather ho-hum for much of the first half. The Lady Panthers actually earned and kept the lead over the Raiders in the first and part of the second periods.

Later in the second quarter it wasn’t long before the coach lit a fire under the guest team. It was a different game from then on. Wayne Trace put together a 28-0 scoring stretched into the third quarter where the lady Raiders were burning up the court, leaving the Panthers holding nothing but an empty bag.

It started when the Lady Panthers got into foul trouble while Erin Mohr and Danae Myers chipped away at their lead. It was just bad timing for the home team.

The final score was 56-38 with the Raiders taking home the win.

Scorers of the Game:

Paulding – Vogel 17; Arend 11; Townley 5; Meggison 3; Arellano 2

Wayne Trace – Mohr 25; Myers 11; Sinn 6; Mead 5; Gudakunst 4; Eklund 2; Egnor 1

Coach Mark Rhodes stated, “I was proud of our girls, they played extremely hard, played together well and competed for four quarters. They are making progress and getting better every time out. Wayne Trace has a talented and skilled team that does a great job of pounding the offensive boards and creating tempo.”
