Lucy Wales Speech

Veterans Day is a special day. It honors people such as veterans who fought in a war. I honor these people here because they worked hard to save our country or even just fought to defend a law. These people here are our heroes. I am so happy that my Dad, Uncle Timmy, and Grandpa are Veterans. My dad retired from the Marine Corps. He will be 60 next year and will get retirement. He had to go overseas to fight wars. He was gone a lot, and we had to be left alone with my mom. .I can’t say much, but he worked with bombs and planes.

I have a picture of me in my dad’s plane. We get to go to all of the military bases. Everyday Veterans have had to fight to keep our country free. It might not just be a war, but we can get up in the morning and feel safe knowing that people like my dad are watching over us. My older brother’s friend is overseas too. I hope he gets to come back safe just like my dad did.

Thanks to all these Veterans, we are able to get up without fear, go to school, go shopping, and live our lives feeling like we are being protected and safe. Because of our Veterans, our world is still here today. Everybody should take a minute to thank a Veteran for serving our country.

P.S. They like care packages, cookies, and books.
