Fourth ranked Lady Aces struggled with games 1 and 2 while winning the third 23-25. The last set the Pilots shot down Hicksville 25-9. The lady Aces finished their season at 17-8.

Pettisville is a strong team and so is the Lady Archers. In fact, the volleyball for the area was quite strong and the GMC had some of the best teams around.

The sets for the Lady Archers and Pettisville started off trading points back and forth and it was a tough match for both teams. Nearing 20 points, the Lady Birds pulled ahead when the officials started calling harsh double hit calls on several Archers — Peyton Short, Audrie Longardner and others. These were tough judges to please.

The second set was a homerun for the Lady Archers. Numerous kills by Rachel Williamson and Kiana Recker secured the win assisted by Peyton Short and Emily Derck. Derck, Williamson and Recker also with numerous blocks stopped the Blackbirds’ offense for a 15-25 win.

Initially, the third set was very positive for Antwerp with a strong lead up into the teens. Pettisville clawed their way back to the top and a streak gave them the lead. Avery Braaten and Audrie Longardner’s digs could not save this set.

The fourth set was marked with an early lead. As the game was winding down and the Archers still trailing, they kept trading points back and forth until the end when the Blackbirds were named the winners.
