Wayne Trace Stumbles to Hicksville at Home

A bitterly cold night began the evening for Wayne Trace vs Hicksville football game at the Raider Field. The seniors for the home team were announced: Gabe Wobler, Noah Stoller, Luke Miller, Austin Winebrenner, Scott Wenninger, Corey Davis, Clint Sinn, Connor Arend, Justin Speice, and Austin Kuhn.

The first quarter began with the Aces scoring the first touchdown, by Senior Dillion Fuller attacking the south goal. It looked as though Hicksville would easily take the game. Not the case! The next touchdown, coming in the second quarter, was scored when Wayne Trace’s Gabe Wober passed the ball to Seth Saylor for a 7 yard touchdown. The two point conversion was also good giving the Raiders a 1 point lead.

When it looked like the second quarter was wrapping up, the Aces’ Garrett Crall made a long pass to Mason Hosteler who ran, scoring a goal with only 10 seconds left on the clock and finishing the half leading the Raiders 13-8.

The second half had Hicksville scoring three more touchdowns: Travis Lysaght, Dillion Fuller, Payton Tunis. Logan Neidhardt also added a 3 point field goal.

For the Raiders, the second half was also productive. Cole Shepherd ran a 51 yard field goal and he also ran a 40 yard touchdown.

The Raiders lost the ball three times while Luke Miller intercepted one of Hicksville’s passes. The Aces 104 yards to penalties while the home team lost 20.

Hicksville nearly doubled the offensive yards with 415 to 231.

Hicksville — 7 6 10 13=36

Wayne Trace is now 4-4 and Hicksville is 6-2

The Raiders will travel to Tinora for Friday night’s game 9. Hicksville will have their own difficult matching when they take on undefeated Ayersville at the Pilots home field.
