This is the 10th anniversary for the annual Broughton Redneck Jamboree set right in the center of town. It seemed as if the whole town turned out on such a pleasant Saturday evening. The festivities took off with a balloon release of about 300 balloons.

The flag raising was then conducted by veterans Dan Wilder, John Dager, and 94 years young Russell Long. Russell served in the Air Force during WWII stationed in Kansas as an engine mechanic for B17 and B29 bombers.

The town hall was oozing with good food provided by the Jamboree committee (mainly meats and potatoes) and the good folks of Broughton. And a certain lady fed some eager eaters a very tasty piece of fresh strawberry pie – yum!!

Entertainment was commencing all around the town hall with inflatables, craft tables and relay games for the kids (including a water balloon toss!), and the extreme talents of Yvonne Stahl and the Boogie Grass Band. After this exceptional band, Drew Munger hooked up to the sound system and saturated the ears of the event goers with his awesome blues talents. Later Austin Bowers of Antwerp entertained the crowds.

All the sales from 50/50 tickets, raffles, t-shirt sales, and anonymous donations help to fund the next annual Redneck Jamboree. Some of the people who are responsible for making sure this special Saturday gets put together are Kathy Sanderson, Teresa Matthews, and Robin Dobbelaere.
