Van Wert Post Investigating Serious Injury Crash

medical emergency policeGrover Hill, OH – The Ohio State Highway Patrol’s Van Wert Post is investigating a serious injury motor vehicle crash on SR 114 approximately two miles east of Grover Hill, in Paulding County.

On July 20, 2015 at 08:05AM, the Van Wert Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol received a report of a serious injury rollover crash on State Route 114 near County Road 151. A 2002 Chevrolet Blazer SUV, driven by Layne Dickerson, age 23, of Haviland, OH was westbound on State Route 114 when she drove off the right side of the roadway. Ms. Dickerson lost control and the vehicle rolled several times on the roadway, resulting in Ms. Dickerson being ejected. Seat belts were not in use at the time of the crash.

Ms. Dickerson sustained serious injuries and was taken by Grover Hill EMS to Grover Hill Elementary School where she was transported by Samaritan Life Flight to Parkview Hospital in Ft. Wayne, Indiana.

State Route 114 was closed for a short time during scene clean up and has been reopened. The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted on scene by Grover Hill Volunteer Fire and EMS, the Paulding County Sheriff’s Office, and R & O Towing.

Alcohol is not believed to be a factor and the crash remains under investigation.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol encourages all occupants to buckle their seatbelts, as they are proven to reduce the risk of serious injuries and death in motor vehicle crashes.
