Early Morning One Vehicle Fatal Crash In Paulding County

Tragedy strikes recent PHS graduate in Paulding County.

police lights sheriff emergencyCrane Township – The Ohio State Highway Patrol’s Van Wert Post is investigating a fatal motor vehicle crash that occurred on June 9, 2015at 7:39 AM on US127 near milepost 14, south of SR111 in Paulding County.

A 2002 Chevrolet Avalanche pick-up truck, driven by Skyler D. Huth, age 18, and of Paulding was northbound on US127 when he drifted off the left side of the road. Mr. Huth struck a power pole and then a tree. Mr. Huth sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Paulding County Coroner.

US127 was closed for several hours during scene clean up and has been reopened. The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted on scene by the Paulding County Sheriff’s Office, Paulding County Coroner, Paulding Fire and EMS, Gideon’s Towing, AEP, and the Ohio Department of Transportation.

Mr. Huth was not wearing his seat belt at the time of the crash and alcohol is not believed to be a factor. The crash remains under investigation.
