This sent the Lady Aces to championship game against Edon, the winners over Edgerton. The Lady Bulldogs fell to the Bombers after an intense overtime game at 55-58.
The second set of games took place on Christmas Eve Eve with Santa Claus visiting because his sleigh was not quite ready.

Edgerton was a tough match for the Lady Bombers the night before and was also a tough team for the Lady Archers.

The game began at 6:00 pm and Antwerp crushed the first quarter competition. The only point of the first quarter for the Bulldogs came from a foul shot by Shayla Sleesman. The Lady Archers had points by Recker, Williamson, and Braaten. You could see the excitement in the fans’ faces for these young ladies. Would it hold up? Unfortunately for Antwerp, no.

The second quarter was a reversal with the Lady Bulldogs scoring 14 points, doubling Antwerp’s 2Q score and finishing the half with Antwerp only holding a small lead at 17-15.
The third quarter was similar to the second with Antwerp now trailing Edgerton 30-31. Antwerp has been known to fall under this kind of pressure, losing all momentum. Peyton Short and Audrie Longarder were able to revive the excitement with 3 3 point baskets between the two in the third quarter.

The fourth quarter was a full court press for both teams. There was no mercy shown for either side. Antwerp’s defense was able to hold the opposers’ points in place, only allowing Edgerton to score 6, not to mention the help that came from the Bulldogs only scoring 3 of their 6 free-throws. Avery Braaten and Kianna Recker both hit their 3 of four free-throws. The final score was 40-37, giving Antwerp their second victory for the season. Coach Taylor was very happy with his team saying, “They held up very well.”

Antwerp Scorers: Peyton Short 13; Avery Braaten 11; Kianna Recker 6; Rachel Williamson 5; and Audrie Longardner 5;
Edgerton Scorers: Shayla Sleesman 13; Autumn Groves 9; Morgan Rowe 9; Nataliee Handel 3; and Autumn Rowe 3.
