Accidental Shooting in Oakwood

WEB+Accidental+ShootingDeputies are investigating what is believed to be an accidental shooting which occurred in rural Oakwood, Ohio last evening just after 8:00 p.m.

The residence is owned by Scott & Sheryl Wagner, and their juvenile children were the subjects involved. Initial statements indicate a fifteen year old boy was handling a .22 caliber rifle when it fired and struck his thirteen year old sister in the thigh. The sister was in another room of the house when the incident happened.

“We as parents can never stress enough the safety of handling firearms. This appears to be a very unfortunate situation,” said Sheriff Landers.

The injured juvenile was transported to Defiance Mercy Hospital by Oakwood EMS. No other patient information is available. This investigation continues.
