Victims of Plane Crash ID’d

Sheriff Jason Landers announced the names of the plane crash victims from Thursday night’s crash near Grover Hill.

Grover Hill, Ohio— Paulding County Coroner Dr. Joseph Kuhn was able to identify the remains of the three occupants of the plane that crashed on November 6, 2014 at the intersection of Rd 137 & Rd 60 in Latty Township.

The pilot of the aircraft which is registered to Orthopedics Aviation Services was Dr. Michael McCarty, age 59, from Grand Island, Nebraska. Passengers in the plane were Wayne Weiss, age 65, and his wife Rosalee Weiss, age 62, also from Grand Island, Nebraska.

According to family members, McCarty was traveling to New Jersey to visit a daughter, and Weiss’ were simply vacationing. I was told Michael and Wayne were longtime friends and experienced pilots. The families began to search for Michael, Wayne and Rosalee after they failed to arrive in New Jersey at the scheduled time, said Sheriff Landers.”

Investigators with the FAA and NTSB continue to clean up the scene of the crash today. They are hopeful to wrap things up at the scene today and begin their process of determining what actually happened.
