Russell Lowell St. John

Russell Lowell St. John, 78, passed away peacefully on September 5, 2014.

He was born October 15, 1935 in Sherwood, Ohio, to Lowell to Velma (Sponseller) St. John. He married Betty Ann (Dangler) on September 5, 1959 in the Paulding Presbyterian Church. He graduated from Farmer High School in 1953and served in the U.S. Army from 1958 – 1960. He worked at BF Goodrich from 1961 – 1970. He owned and operated St. John Tire Service in Paulding since 1970 retiring in 2001 after 44 years of service. He was a trustee of Paulding Putnam Electric Co-op from 1980 – 2001. He served as a deacon and elder in the First Presbyterian Church in Paulding. He was a 53 member of the Masonic Lodge #478 Hicksville, OH. He was a member of Hicksville Chapter #188 Royal Arch. Masons and a member of the Scottish Rite Valley of Toledo.

He is survived by his wife, Betty, of Paulding; his sons, Steve (Melinda), Bryan, Scott (Carmen) and Kevin (Sheila of Paulding; seven grandchildren: Ryan (Ashley), Mattea (Nathan), Jessica, Mallary, Alyssa, Courtney and Kayleigh; three sisters, Ila (Alexander) Mcgregor, and Lola (Martin) Lehman both of Tennessee, and Lila (James) Ridlen of South Carolina.

He is preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Robert Lee St. John.

Funeral services will be conducted 11AM Tuesday, September 9 at First Presbyterian Church, Paulding, with Rev. David Meriwether officiating. Burial will be in Live Oak Cemetery, Paulding.

Visitation will be 2 – 8PM Monday, September 8 at Den Herder Funeral Home, Paulding, with a Masonic Memorial Service conducted at 7:30PM. There will also be visitation from 10 AM until time of services on Monday at the church.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Parkinson Foundation or First Presbyterian Church.
