Donate Eight Inches of Hair to Benefit Children with Hair Loss Regain Confidence

On Sunday, May 18, anyone with eight or more inches of hair to spare is encouraged to help children with hair loss feel normal again. Anyone willing to have cut eight inches of hair or more for kids in need of wigs is encouraged to “Donate Eight,” taking place at 2 p.m. at Lutheran Hospital.

Hosted by Lutheran Children’s Hospital, Donate Eight will take place in the south lobby of Lutheran Hospital, located at the entrance of Medical Office Building Two. Eight professional stylists from several salons, including Elite Visions and Eloquent Hair Design, have graciously volunteered their time and talent to support the cause.

The event was initiated by a local resident, Michael James, who grew his hair to assist and help the organization Children With Hair Loss, a nonprofit that makes hairpieces for children in need. Side effects from medications, various deficiencies and health conditions sometimes make hair growth difficult for children and adults.

At the event, participants are asked to have their hair clean and dry. CHWL has few restrictions on the types of hair can be accepted for donation.

Questions may be directed via email todonateeighttoday@gmail.com. Hair donors are asked to register in advance as well at the same email address. Inquiries about what types of hair can be accepted can be directed to childrenwithhairloss.us. Children With Hair Loss will accept donations to help underwrite the wig creation process. Contributions are tax deductible. (PLEASE VERIFY THAT FACT)

Some Lutheran Children’s Hospital staff and families are expected to attend. The event is free and open to the public. Free parking is available in the south parking garage.
