Wayne L. Zielke, 88, of Antwerp passed away at home on Saturday, February 8, 2014.
Wayne was born in Briceton on October 31, 1925, a son of the late Bertha (Mabis) and Paul Zielke.
Wayne helped others farm after high school then began farming for himself in 1956. He also worked at Grizzly Manufacturing, Dana Weatherhead and Challenge Cook.
He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, where he was active in the church choir and was a volunteer for the Lutheran Brotherhood and Thrivent for Lutherans. He was also a member of the Antwerp Conservation Club, Hicksville Eagles and New Haven Navy Club.
Wayne loved his family but also enjoyed fishing, gardening and camping.
On Dec. 25, 1952 Wayne married Mary Jane Gilbert.
He will be sadly missed by his wife, Mary Jane; children, Jerry (Sue) & John (Darlene) all of Antwerp & Nancy (Del) McClain of Monroeville, IN; 7 grandchildren & 8 great grandchildren.
Also preceding him in death are a grandson, John; siblings, Marietta Harper, Clara Dye, Ruth, Alvin, Carl, Ray and Paul.
Viewing is Monday, 4 – 8 pm at Dooley Funeral Home, Antwerp.
His funeral service is at St. John Lutheran Church, 09088 Openlander Rd, Sherwood, at 10 am on Tuesday, February 11th, with viewing one hour prior.
Memorials are to St. John Church or St. John Choir.
