Wayne Trace Girls Fall in Close Game to Ayersville, JV Wins

The Pilots travelled to Wayne Trace on Friday, January 17 for the latest Girls Basketball Game of the season. The Wayne Trace JV team won the first match in overtime 53-47.

Ayersville, with a 10-2 record, put 6’4” Megan Schubert to win the tipoff starting the game. Wayne Trace girls where good at stealing the ball in the first quarter, and scoring. Quickly though, the Lady Pilots saw what was happening and put that to an end, taking the quarter at 12-18. The second quarter went to the Raiders in the close match at 10-9. The first half of the game finished at 27-22 with Ayersville on top.

The third quarter was a killer for Wayne Trace. The Pilots outscored the home team by double. The Lady Raiders had one of their top scoring quarters ever in the fourth, almost to the point of defeating the visitors. Erin Mohr was on fire, nailing 4 3-point baskets. The team scored 26 points in the last period. The 4 point gap was left and the Pilots went home with the win.
