On Thursday, June 20 the Oakwood Park Board put together a dinner

free-will offering for the community at the American Legion, donating their facility. Of the dozen or so of the volunteers, not one sat and watched. The entire community pitched in either serving or donating to add more equipment and maintaining existing gear.

“I am excited to see everyone turn out for this evening.” Charlene Stucky continued “It really helps us be able to take care of the park!”
Brandi Keller, the newest park board member, agreed with Charlene. This was her first year serving at the dinner. Brandi stated, “We live in town and this is how community works. I remember playing in the park when I was little and now it’s my turn to help.”
Nearly every year the dinner has such a good attendance, they run out of food.

The next event the Park Board has planned is Santa Claus coming to town with cookies and treats along with carriage rides.
