{"id":9342,"date":"2014-11-22T10:34:52","date_gmt":"2014-11-22T15:34:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/westbendnews.net\/autonews\/?p=9342"},"modified":"2014-11-22T10:34:52","modified_gmt":"2014-11-22T15:34:52","slug":"fatal-crash-near-hicksville","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.westbendnews.net\/autonews\/fatal-crash-near-hicksville\/","title":{"rendered":"Fatal Crash Near Hicksville"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/westbendnews.net\/autonews\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/police-lights.jpg\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-2159\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/westbendnews.net\/autonews\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/police-lights-300x224.jpg?resize=300%2C224\" alt=\"police-lights\" width=\"300\" height=\"224\" \/><\/a>The Ohio State Highway Patrol responded to a two vehicle crash at approximately 9:21 PM on State Route 2, one half mile east of Casebeer-Miller road in Hicksville Township, Defiance County, near the village of Hicksville. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">A 1998 Chevrolet Tahoe, driven by 41 year old James Cummings of Hicksville, was eastbound on SR 2 and drove left of center into the westbound lane, striking a 2006 Ford F-150. It was driven by 48 year old Larry D. Geren of Fort Wayne, Indiana. After impact both vehicles came to rest off the north side of the roadway in a ditch. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">James Cummings was pronounced dead at Hicksville Hospital, and Larry Geren was treated at the scene. James Cummings did not have a seat belt in use at the time of the crash. Larry Geren was wearing his safety belt at the time of the crash.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">The Highway Patrol was assisted by Defiance County Sheriff\u2019s Office, Hicksville Police Department, and Hicksville Fire and EMS.
