Meyer, 79,<\/strong> died peacefully surrounded by his loving family Tuesday, January 7, 2014 at his son\u2019s home in Cecil, Ohio.<\/p>\n<p>He was born on August 7, 1934 in Antwerp, Ohio, the son of the late Francis and Madonna (Trembley) Meyer.<\/p>\n<p>John was a 1952 graduate of Antwerp High School, Antwerp, Ohio.<\/p>\n<p>On January 28, 1967, John was united in marriage to Catherine Bott and she preceded him in death on February 8, 2011.<\/p>\n<p>John served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict from 1955 to 1959.<\/p>\n<p>John retired from Navistar(International Harvester)in 1999. While working fulltime he also attended classes at IIT in Ft. Wayne and farmed.<\/p>\n<p>He was very active member of St. Michael\u2019s Catholic Church, Hicksville, Ohio, where he was a charter member of the Knights of Columbus. He was a member of a men\u2019s bowling league, loved to fish and spend time with his grandkids and family.<\/p>\n<p>John is survived by two daughters- Sara (Todd) Green of Hicksville, Cheryl (Steve) Pomesky of Waynesburg, Ohio; a son- Mike (Tomi) Meyer of Cecil, Ohio; grandkids- Brian, Jason and Brandon Green, Isabella and Isaac Meyer, Emily, Alex and Elizabeth Pomesky; sisters- Irene Mascazine of Mansfield, Ohio, Mary Stump of Ft. Wayne, Indiana, Joan Miller of Hurst, Texas; brothers- Phil Meyer and Jerry Meyer of Hicksville, and Basil Meyer of Bluffton, Ohio.<\/p>\n<p>He was preceded in death by a grandson Lucas and a brother Paul.<\/p>\n<p>A Mass of Christian Burial for John will be Saturday at 10:30 at St. Michael\u2019s Catholic Church, Hicksville with Father Dave Cirata officiating. Visitation will be Friday from 2:00 to 8:00 and a rosary will be at 8:00 at Smith &amp; Brown Funeral Home, Hicksville.<\/p>\n<p>Burial will be in Forest Home Cemetery, Hicksville.<\/p>\n<p>Memorials may be made to St. Michael\u2019s Catholic Church or CHP of Paulding County.<\/p>\n<p>Online condolences may be shared at www.smithbrownfuneralhome.com.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>ANTWERP, OHIO John A.
