Members of the Kiwanis Club recently had the privilege of learning about the rich history of Crane Township during a presentation by local historian Carol Razo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Razo presented her \u201cDriving History Tour of Crane Township,\u201d sharing stories, historical information, photographs, and maps highlighting significant places throughout the township. Razo was invited to speak by fellow Kiwanian Bob West and was introduced by Barb Searing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As part of her efforts to preserve and share local history, Razo has created a booklet featuring a driving tour of numerous historical locations throughout Crane Township. The booklet includes a map, historical photographs, descriptions, and interesting details about each location. Copies are available at the local Paulding County Carnegie Library.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Among the locations featured in the booklet are New Rochester Park, which served as the first county seat of Paulding County; Cecil Bridge Park; the former ghost towns of Henpeck, Knoxdale, and Furnace; Forrest Woods Nature Preserve; Forder Bridge; Dead Man\u2019s Curve; and Six-Mile Reservoir.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The tour provides an opportunity for residents and visitors to discover the history behind many familiar locations and learn about the people, communities, and events that helped shape Crane Township and the surrounding area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kiwanis members expressed their appreciation to Razo for sharing her extensive historical knowledge and for her dedication to preserving the area\u2019s local heritage. Her booklet offers a unique way for residents to explore Crane Township while gaining a greater appreciation for the history found throughout the community.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
