VAN WERT, Ohio \u2014 As part of the 50th anniversary celebration, Vantage Career Center marked a milestone moment by burying a time capsule on April 24th, preserving memories and milestones for future generations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The special ceremony brought together administration and student representatives from all 19 of Vantage\u2019s career-technical programs, each contributing items that reflect today\u2019s student experience, technology, and the impact of hands-on learning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Superintendent Rick Turner reflected on the significance of the event during the ceremony.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cToday is a proud and memorable day for Vantage Career Center as we come together to bury a new time capsule during our 50th Anniversary year,\u201d said Turner. \u201cThis is more than placing items in the ground\u2014it is preserving a moment in time and telling the story of who we are in 2026.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He added, \u201cFor 50 years, Vantage Career Center has been changing lives through career-technical education… We are proud of our past, but even more excited about where we are headed.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following the remarks, student representatives from the Construction Equipment Technology program, alongside instructors Chris Miles and Deb Richardson, assisted in burying the time capsule.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Adding a meaningful connection to the ceremony, the capsule lid was engraved by Larry Ray, instructor of Machining and Engineering Technologies, who also played a role in the school\u2019s 2000 time capsule burial.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The time capsule itself also carries special history. It is the same capsule originally buried by Vantage students and staff in 2000 and has now been reopened and reused for the school\u2019s 50th anniversary celebration, creating a unique link between generations of Vantage students.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The capsule was filled with a wide variety of items representing Vantage today. Contents included a patch from the school\u2019s first School Resource Officer, Deputy Jill Gemmer, healthcare-related items, textbooks, photos of current students and staff, Adult Education pamphlets, items signed by current students, technology projects created by students in their labs, essays from students giving insights on the current and looking to the future, USB drives full of memories and history, and this year\u2019s memory book filled with images from the 2025\u20132026 school year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Students and staff then gathered for photos to commemorate the occasion and celebrate five decades of career-technical excellence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The time capsule will remain sealed for future generations, offering tomorrow\u2019s students and staff a glimpse into life at Vantage Career Center during its 50th anniversary year.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
