Wayne Trace used a strong opening quarter and a balanced scoring effort to earn a 43\u201335 girls basketball victory over Woodlan on December 27. The Lady Raiders jumped out to a 13\u20135 first-quarter lead and never relinquished control, closing the game with a decisive 13\u201310 fourth quarter to secure the win.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Woodlan battled back after halftime, outscoring Wayne Trace 14\u20138 in the third quarter to pull within striking distance, but the Raiders answered down the stretch with timely defense and key rebounds. Wayne Trace finished the night shooting 10-of-34 from two-point range and 3-of-8 from beyond the arc, while converting 14-of-20 free throws.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Alyssa Anderson led all scorers for Woodlan with 24 points, accounting for the majority of the Warriors\u2019 offense. Mariah Thullner and Savannah Scheumann each added three points, Kaitlyn Sterling finished with four, and Scarlett Gillingham scored one. Woodlan out-rebounded Wayne Trace on the offensive glass but struggled from long range, going scoreless from three-point territory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wayne Trace was led by Amber Stoller with 17 points, including a three-pointer and a strong night at the free-throw line. Caroline Winans followed with 11 points, while Careen Winans added 10. Senior Lexi Moore contributed five points and delivered a performance that extended far beyond the box score.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With 4:34 remaining in the fourth quarter, Moore secured a defensive rebound that marked the 1,000th of her career. The milestone makes Moore the first basketball player\u2014boys or girls\u2014in Wayne Trace history to reach 1,000 career rebounds. The previous school record was held by Steve Hall with 914 rebounds on the boys side.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
