The Defiance County Metroparks Board, in collaboration with the City of Defiance, is thrilled to announce the official launch of self-serve kayak rentals at Pontiac Park, located on E River Dr, Defiance near the boat launch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This new amenity is part of a broader initiative to expand recreational opportunities and increase access to the beautiful Maumee and Auglaize Rivers. A recent community survey revealed that 64% of residents who don\u2019t use the river cited a lack of access to watercraft like kayaks or canoes as the main barrier. With this new program, that barrier has been eliminated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Your River Adventure Starts Here<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Renting a kayak is simple, affordable, and designed to fit your schedule:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022 Includes: Kayak, life vest, and paddle<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022 Hours: Available sun-up to sun-down<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022 Where: Self-serve kiosk at Pontiac Park, E River Dr, Defiance<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022 How: Use the Rent.Fun app (Movatic). Scan the on-site QR code to unlock your rental. Play and have fun! Return your rental to the correct locker and follow the in-app instructions to close out your rental.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rentals are fully self-serve. Once your kayak is returned, the app automatically calculates your total time and charges accordingly. Whether you’re out for an hour or an entire afternoon, there\u2019s no need to update the app mid-paddle\u2014just return it when you\u2019re done.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

More Than Kayaks: Try Bocce Ball Too!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition to kayaks, residents can also rent bocce ball equipment using the same Rent.Fun app. Equipment is available at Latty\u2019s Grove on Williams Street in Defiance, stored in a self-serve locker just like the kayaks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
