John DeVore sworn in as Antwerp Councilperson and Antwerp Mayor Jan Reeb<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Antwerp, OH \u2014 May 14, 2025 \u2014 The Antwerp Village Council has appointed John DeVore to fill the council seat vacated by Steve Jordan, bringing a familiar face and a renewed sense of civic commitment to the table.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

DeVore, a 1998 graduate of Antwerp High School, was officially sworn in at the council\u2019s May 14 meeting. He recently returned to Antwerp after living in Fort Wayne for several years and says his motivation to serve on council stems from a desire to give back to the community that shaped him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI\u2019ve been back in the community for a little over three years now,\u201d DeVore said. \u201cI feel what I can do is be a voice for the people in the community. It\u2019s important for somebody to step up and try to be that voice.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

DeVore and his wife, Sara, are raising their three children in Antwerp. His oldest daughter, age 23, is currently studying law in Toledo. He also has a kindergartner and a preschool-aged son.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Professionally, DeVore works as a toolmaker at Trelleborg in New Haven, Indiana, and serves as president of the local United Steelworkers union there. His leadership role at work, he says, has prepared him to advocate for others and navigate challenging discussions. He is ready to see the water improve in this village and will pursue this until its completion<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When asked whether he plans to run for a full term in November, DeVore confirmed that he does.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI appreciate the opportunity from the council members,\u201d he added. \u201cI\u2019m glad I\u2019m getting the opportunity to be a voice for the people.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

DeVore fills the unexpired term left by Steve Jordan and will serve until the next regular election.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
