PAULDING \u2014 The Paulding Panthers earned a gritty 2-1 victory over the visiting Hicksville Aces on Thursday, April 17, in a Green Meadows Conference showdown that came down to strong pitching and early run support.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

All of the Panthers\u2019 scoring came in the bottom of the first inning. Paulding capitalized on timely base running and a pair of early hits to plate two runs, which proved to be just enough cushion as the pitching staff held off a persistent Hicksville lineup.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Although Paulding has yet to release official individual statistics, the team compiled five hits and drew four walks while committing just one error in the field. Their defense held up under pressure, leaving Hicksville stranded in multiple innings and keeping the game in check.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For the Aces, junior pitcher Eli Lawrence threw a complete game, giving up just five hits and one earned run while striking out eight across six innings. Offensively, Hicksville managed two hits\u2014one each from Parker Bassett and Jayden Beverly. Bassett scored the team\u2019s lone run in the fourth inning to briefly threaten Paulding\u2019s lead.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Despite the close score, Paulding maintained control behind a composed defensive performance and efficient pitching. With the win, the Panthers improved their standing in conference play, while Hicksville was left looking to rebound in their next outing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
