Sometimes we look forward to a day to celebrate love. We ladies wonder, \u201cWhat\u2019s my love going to get me to celebrate this occasion?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWill he get me chocolates or a piece of jewelry? Maybe dinner in a fancy restaurant?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Through the years I recall Valentine\u2019s day clear back when I was in grade school. One memory is taking some sort of treat to school and sharing it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I took these multi-colored little heart candy with sayings on them, (By the way, they still make those hearts today). There was a cute boy in my class and I gave him one little heart which said, \u201cI love you.\u201d I remember wondering what he thought of it and if I should chase him around the playground and try to kiss him?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Haha. We were only in the third grade, but I haven\u2019t forgot it because now it seems funny. Then years later my own kids made Valentine\u2019s day boxes. That was always fun because all the students wanted to make the best box. I think they still make those boxes today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But in our school days did we even know what love was? Is it chocolate, jewelry or a fancy restaurant?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Let\u2019s find out what these 4-8 year olds thought love was as a group of professionals asked them, \u201cWhat does love mean?\u201d The answers they got were broader, deeper, and more profound than anyone could have ever imagined! <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Here are some answers:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWhen my grandmother got arthritis, she couldn’t bend over and paint her toenails anymore\u2026 so my grandfather does it for her all the time, even when his hands got arthritis too. That’s love.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rebecca \u2013 age 8<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWhen someone loves you, the way they say your name is different. You just know that your name is safe in their mouth.\u201d Billy \u2013 age 4<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cLove is when a girl puts on perfume and a boy puts on shaving cologne and they go out and smell each other.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Karl \u2013 age 5<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cLove is when you go out to eat and give somebody most of your French fries without making them give you any of theirs.\u201d Chrissy \u2013 age 6<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cLove is what makes you smile when you’re tired.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Terri \u2013 age 4<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cLove is when my mommy makes coffee for my daddy and she takes a sip before giving it to him, to make sure the taste is OK.\u201d Danny \u2013 age 8<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cLove is what’s in the room with you at Christmas if you stop opening presents and just listen.\u201d Bobby \u2013 age 7<\/em> (Wow!)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIf you want to learn to love better, you should start with a friend who you hate.\u201d Nikka \u2013 age 6<\/em> (we need a few million more Nikka’s on this planet)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cLove is when you tell a guy you like his shirt, then he wears it every day.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Noelle \u2013 age 7<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cLove is like a little old woman and a little old man who are still friends even after they know each other so well.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tommy \u2013 age 6<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cDuring my piano recital, I was on a stage and I was scared. I looked at all the people watching me and saw my daddy waving and smiling. He was the only one doing that. I wasn’t scared anymore.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cindy \u2013 age 8<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cMy mommy loves me more than anybody. You don’t see anyone else kissing me to sleep at night.\u201d Clare \u2013 age 6<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cLove is when Mommy gives Daddy the best piece of chicken.\u201d Elaine \u2013 age 5<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cLove is when Mommy sees Daddy smelly and sweaty and still says he is handsomer than Robert Redford.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Chris \u2013 age 7<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cLove is when your puppy licks your face even after you left him alone all day.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mary Ann \u2013 age 4<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI know my older sister loves me because she gives me all her old clothes and has to go out and buy new ones.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lauren \u2013 age 4<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWhen you love somebody, your eyelashes go up and down and little stars come out of you.\u201d (what an image!)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Karen \u2013 age 7<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cLove is when Mommy sees Daddy on the toilet and she doesn’t think it’s gross\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mark \u2013 age 6<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cYou really shouldn’t say ‘I love you’ unless you mean it. But if you mean it, you should say it a lot. People forget.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jessica \u2013 age 8<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

And the final one: The winner was a four year old child whose next door neighbor was an elderly gentleman who had recently lost his wife. Upon seeing the man cry, the little boy went into the old gentleman\u2019s yard, climbed onto his lap, and just sat there. When his mother asked what he had said to the neighbor, the little boy said, \u201cNothing, I just helped him cry.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
