Paulding County, OH \u2013 The Campground Kids 4-H Club had a special visitor at their meeting on Sunday, February 2, 2025, as they welcomed Paulding County Dog Warden David Bash. The club members gathered to learn about the responsibilities of the dog warden and the vital role the Paulding County Dog Shelter plays in caring for stray and abandoned dogs. Community Service Club Officer Jacob Hartwig aligned Bash as the guest speaker to aid in the community service project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During his presentation, Bash shared insights on the shelter’s daily operations, the importance of responsible pet ownership, and the process of finding homes for adoptable dogs. He also discussed the laws surrounding animal welfare and how the community can support the shelter\u2019s mission.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following the discussion, the 4-H members put their knowledge and compassion into action by making homemade dog chew toys for the shelter dogs. Using repurposed fabric and simple braiding techniques, the members crafted durable toys that will enrich and comfort the dogs awaiting adoption at the shelter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis was such a meaningful project for our club,\u201d said Makinzee Williamson, a 4-H member. \u201cNot only did we get to learn about how the shelter helps dogs in our county, but we also got to make something that will brighten their days while they wait for their forever homes.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Campground Kids 4-H Club continues to engage in community service projects that benefit both people and animals. Their efforts reflect the core values of 4-H\u2014learning by doing, giving back to the community, and developing leadership skills. The club members made over 40 dog chew toys.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
