Guests got a sneak peek at the decorations in the museum\u2019s three buildings.<\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cLet\u2019s Trim the Tree\u201d is the theme for the annual Festival of Trees at Paulding County History Museum in Paulding. The festival opened Nov. 8 and continues through Saturday, Nov. 16. It\u2019s not too late to enjoy the meals and local live entertainment on the schedule.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Admission and parking are free. Donations are greatly appreciated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The festival is open daily. Explore 30,000 square feet of holiday trees, displays and decorations in three buildings. This year, an incredible 90 unique trees \u2013 the most ever \u2013 have been decorated by local individuals, families, organizations and businesses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Don\u2019t miss the adjacent Barn 1 and Barn 2, both filled with trees, lights, animated figures, Nativity scenes, inflatable characters and 10 model train layouts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image alignleft size-full is-resized\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"666\" height=\"888\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.westbendnews.net\/autonews\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/festival-of-trees.jpeg?resize=666%2C888&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-45878\" style=\"width:250px\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.westbendnews.net\/autonews\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/festival-of-trees.jpeg?w=666&amp;ssl=1 666w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.westbendnews.net\/autonews\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/festival-of-trees.jpeg?resize=560%2C747&amp;ssl=1 560w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.westbendnews.net\/autonews\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/festival-of-trees.jpeg?resize=260%2C347&amp;ssl=1 260w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.westbendnews.net\/autonews\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/festival-of-trees.jpeg?resize=160%2C213&amp;ssl=1 160w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 666px) 100vw, 666px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\"><strong>More than 90 decorated trees are on exhibit at Paulding County History Museum\u2019s Festival of Trees. Visitors also can view model train layouts, more than 100 Nativity scenes, Christmas collections, inflatable decorations and more.<\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The festival committee, led by co-chairmen Michelle Stanford and Elizabeth Miller, has been busy planning and preparing for the museum\u2019s largest event and fundraiser of the year. Museum volunteers started unboxing all the decorations September 24. The trees came out of storage on October 1, thanks to Paulding FFA students. It takes nearly six weeks to get everything ready to open the doors to more than 1,500 visitors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Meals and special activities are planned for almost every day. All meals are by free-will donation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Thursday, November 14, hours will be 4:00-8:00 p.m. A chili and soup supper will be served, with Wayne Trace High School Band at 5:00 p.m. and Antwerp Community Band at 7:00 p.m.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Friday, November 15, the festival is open from 4:00-8:00 p.m. A Heavenly Dessert Bar will be open from 4:00-7:00 p.m.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Saturday, November 16, is the final day of the festival. Hours are 10:00 a.m. \u2013 4:00 p.m. Walking tacos are on the menu for lunch. This will be the last chance to bid on the silent auction or enter the annual OSU raffle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Several events will be held every day throughout the festival.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The museum is collecting nonperishable food items for the Caring &amp; Sharing Food Pantry. Please bring an item or two to donate to the food pantry for those in need during the upcoming holidays.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Another feature continues to be the Memory Tree. Remember loved ones by adding their names to the revolving tree, located near the dining room.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The always-popular OSU Raffle sponsored by the Weidenhamer\/Borkosky families is a chance to win a collection of Ohio State University merchandise and memorabilia. Raffle tickets may be purchased throughout the festival. The lucky winner will be drawn at 2:00 p.m. November 16.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Place a bid on one of the exciting items in the silent auction. Local businesses, individuals and groups have generously donated about 80 prizes that will go to the highest bidders. This year, some of the offerings include a pair of Sonny Bashore prints, toys, holiday decor, gift baskets, many handcrafted items, memorabilia and more. The silent auction closes Saturday afternoon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Visitors have the chance to vote for their favorite tree. Look for the jar under each tree and \u201cvote\u201d with coins, dollars or even checks. The tree that collects the most money wins a prize. A prize also will be awarded for the tree that best follows this year\u2019s theme.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Children can take part in the fun Mouse Hunt. Browse the museum\u2019s Country Store for some unique gift ideas, including some branded museum merchandise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Remember to sign Christmas cards for U.S. servicemen and women. Look for the many military and patriotic themed trees on display at the museum.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Paulding County History Museum volunteers hope to see everyone this week.
