John Paulding Historical Museum hosted its annual Spring Tea on Saturday, May 11, and unveiled a new exhibit of vintage ladies\u2019 fashions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

More than 60 guests enjoyed an afternoon tea, complete with dainty sandwiches, scones with traditional marmalade and clotted cream, desserts and freshly brewed tea. Many guests wore lovely hats complementing their best spring outfits.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Table hostesses were Mary Shaffer, Sandra Wann, Michelle Stanford, Eileen Kochensparger, Elizabeth Miller, Paulding County Carnegie Library, Sue Weible, Staci Miller and Tonya Meyer. Elizabeth Miller chaired the event and exhibit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Eileen Kochensparger gave a talk about George and Myrtle Phillips, the museum\u2019s first benefactors. Several items from their estate are included in the vintage clothing display, including clothing, jewelry and a steamer trunk they used for an ocean voyage. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The clothing exhibit continues each Tuesday through June 25, 10:00 a.m. \u2013 4:00 p.m. At the museum.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The public also is invited to attend the museum\u2019s general meeting at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 28. The guest speaker will be author Jeanne Calvert. Visitors will be able to view the vintage clothing plus a new exhibit, Celebrating the Arts & Artists of Paulding County, which features drawings and pastels by local artists.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Another opportunity for viewing the exhibits are from 9:30 a.m. \u2013 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 1, and special hours June 10-15 during the Paulding County Fair. Admission to the museum is free during these events.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
