Owen Brigner, Council Aide to Denver City Council member Amanda Sawyer has been appointed to the National League of Cities (NLC) 2024 Public Safety and Crime Prevention (PSCP) Federal Advocacy Committee. Brigner was elected to a one-year term and will provide strategic direction and guidance for NLC\u2019s federal advocacy agenda and policy priorities on public safety. The appointment was announced by NLC President Mayor David Sander of Rancho Cordova, CA.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cPublic safety and crime prevention is consistently one of the top reported concerns of Denverites,\u201d said Owen Brigner. \u201cThis role gives us another opportunity to help inform policymakers in our nation\u2019s capital about the challenges facing Denver and municipalities across the country.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As a member of NLC\u2019s PSCP Committee, Brigner will play a key role in shaping NLC\u2019s policy positions and advocate on behalf of America\u2019s cities, towns and villages before Congress, with the administration and at home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cNLC\u2019s federal advocacy committees play an important role in helping policymakers in Washington understand the issues and challenges facing America\u2019s cities, towns and villages at the local level,\u201d said NLC President Mayor David Sander of Rancho Cordova, CA. \u201cI\u2019m thrilled to have Owen serve on NLC\u2019s Public Safety and Crime Prevention Committee this year, and look forward to working with him to strengthen the federal-local partnership, and grow our common knowledge of the issues and opportunities facing our communities.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Owen is a 2018 Wayne Trace High School grad.  He graduated with an Associates of Arts from Northwest State Community College in 2019 and a Bachelors in Political Science from the University of Colorado- Denver where he is currently pursing his Masters of Public Administration (MPA). <\/p>\n\n\n\n
