Last fall, Jerry Zielke announced he would resign at the beginning of the year as chairman and have another qualified person come to take the helm of the Paulding County Republican Party. The new chair selected by the committee is Laurie Lucas at the January fourth meeting (2024) at the Cafe & Deli at Holly Wood.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the Republican meeting there were several agenda items in addition to the transfer of chairman that included upcoming fundraisers, raffle, and the Paulding County Fair that runs from June 8-15. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Elected officials also spoke. County Commissioner Lisa McClure stated that Mike Wieble was selected as president of Commissioners for 2024. Auditor Claudia Fickel stated that the tax bills are now online but printed copies were delayed at the printer. Stan Harmon stated there are also changes of personnel happening at the Board of Elections again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

OH Rep Roy Klopfenstein brought up the governor\u2019s veto of House Bill 68 which includes Saving Ohio Adolescents from Experimentation (SAFE) Act regarding gender transition services for minors, and to enact the Save Women’s Sports Act to require schools, state institutions of higher education, and private colleges to designate separate single-sex teams and sports for each sex. This will come back to the floor of the House for a vote to override the veto. There were enough votes the first time that would override the governor\u2019s veto as long as the representatives vote the way they did. Roy said he was surprised the governor didn\u2019t sign the legislation and he is hoping the representatives keep their votes for the bill and not swayed by big money interests. There is a lot of money behind those trying to strike this down as it would guarantee a large income stream for hospitals and big pharma as it makes constant medical attention necessary along with drug treatments for the patients’ lives.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
