The 350’s run a crate motor. The car body can run the standard off-set mid-engine, rear engine, or an outlaw sprint style. All the cars run a rear wing to hold them down on the track. The Outlaw 350 Supermodifieds will headline the show that also features asphalt UMP type Modifieds, Midgets, and the Michiana Vintage Racers. He won track championships in 2005, 2006, 2020 and 2023. Weaver earned his fifth track title by racking up 7 A-main feature wins in 15 A-main starts. Weaver took over the top spot on the track’s all-time win list and now has 78 career feature victories at Fremont Speedway. Other than a 20th place finish on Sept. 9, Paul never finished out of the top six all season, posting 13 top five finishes. Chasing Weaver in the points was Jamie Miller, John Ivy, Kody Brewer, and Dustin Stroup.

The Dirt Trucks, like the 410 Sprints, had a close battle separating the top two spots in the points. Toledo’s Cory McCaughey took the 2023 Championship by 12 points. This was his first title at the speedway. McCaughey battled in 12 of the 13 A-mains in 2023, missing only the season ending stock-truck battle that he helped promote. Other than a mechanical issue that had him finish 18th on Aug. 4, Corey never finished out of the top five all season. He recorded his eighth career Fremont Speedway win on Aug. 5 to go with three second place finishes and four third place showings. He finished on the podium in eight of the 12 features. This youngster fell in love with racing at an early age in North Carolina. Mom’s side of the family was into racing and his father raced go karts. It’s only natural to get behind the wheel. Now living in Northern Ohio, his career started 18 months ago. He loves racing so much he’s only taken one month off since he started. TJ races in three Quarter Midget Classes, Heavy Honda(120 motor), Heavy 160(160 motor), and Unrestricted Animal. His home track is the Lucas County Rec Center in Maumee. He also races the Quad City Series, and the Midwest Thunder Series, both series race in the tri-state. This is a real family sport where parents work with other parents to help the youngsters learn how to get better and develop skills and sportsmanship. This winter TJ and many of his fellow racers are competing at the Winter Nationals at the Ohio State Fairgrounds until February. For more information on Quarter Midgets, visit my Ohio Sports Blitz Facebook page. Until next week, keep your wheels down.
