Antwerp, OH<\/strong> \u2013 On Sunday, November 26, 2023, around 8:35 P.M., Deputies were searching for a stolen vehicle on Kroos Drive in the Village of Antwerp. The vehicle was stolen from Waterford, Michigan, and its location was reported to the State Highway Patrol. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

A deputy sheriff observed the vehicle and attempted to stop it on Kroos Drive. The driver fled after the deputy ordered him to stop. Approximately \u00bd mile later the driver crashed the stolen vehicle into some landscaping, coming to rest at the front porch of a private residence on East Canal Street. The vehicle suffered disabling damage as a result of the crash.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The suspect fled the scene and a search ensured for a few hours. The male driver was not located.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At 8:00 A.M. this morning, a resident on East Canal Street, near last night\u2019s crash site, called <\/p>\n\n\n\n

9-1-1 reporting a strange male was on her porch. The caller indicated the man said he was cold and lost. The Antwerp Police Department responded to the residence and identified the man as the driver who fled from the stolen vehicle last night.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Charged this morning is 31-year-old Ramon Richard Nadeau from Keego Harbor, Michigan. Nadeau is initially charged with Failure to Comply with the Order or Signal of Police Officer, a Felony of the Third Degree, and Receiving Stolen Property, a Felony of the Forth Degree. Nadeau should be arraigned in Paulding County Municipal Court Wednesday, November 29, 2023 at 9:00 A.M.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Paulding County Prosecutor Joseph Burkard will review reports from the Sheriff\u2019s Office and Antwerp Police Department for any additional charges that may be presented to the December Grand Jury session. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Agencies assisting the Sheriff\u2019s Office with this investigation were the Antwerp Police Department and the Ohio State Highway Patrol.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
