{"id":42159,"date":"2023-11-23T19:35:00","date_gmt":"2023-11-24T00:35:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.westbendnews.net\/autonews\/?p=42159"},"modified":"2023-11-21T09:38:05","modified_gmt":"2023-11-21T14:38:05","slug":"spirit-of-woodlan-season-concludes-at-semi-state","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.westbendnews.net\/autonews\/spirit-of-woodlan-season-concludes-at-semi-state\/","title":{"rendered":"Spirit of Woodlan Season Concludes at Semi-State"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full is-resized\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"318\" height=\"217\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.westbendnews.net\/autonews\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/spirit-of-woodlan.jpeg?resize=318%2C217&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-42160\" style=\"width:225px\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.westbendnews.net\/autonews\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/spirit-of-woodlan.jpeg?w=318&amp;ssl=1 318w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.westbendnews.net\/autonews\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/spirit-of-woodlan.jpeg?resize=260%2C177&amp;ssl=1 260w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.westbendnews.net\/autonews\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/spirit-of-woodlan.jpeg?resize=160%2C109&amp;ssl=1 160w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 318px) 100vw, 318px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>After beginning practices in April and working throughout the summer and fall, the Spirit of Woodlan marching band and color guard from Woodlan Jr\/Sr High School concluded their season on Saturday, October 21 at the ISSMA Semi-State competition at Franklin Community High School in Franklin, IN.\u00a0 The students improved weekly and put forth their best performance of the season at Semi-State but the band\u2019s hopes of placing in the top-10 and advancing to the ISSMA State Finals were dashed by stiff competition from across the state and a 12th place finish.\u00a0 Their show, entitled The Undiscovered, featured a mountain and forest theme and centered around the joining of two different tribes to become one.\u00a0 The band\u2019s season schedule and results were as follows:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2018On the Banks of the Wabash\u2019 @ Bluffton: 3rd Place<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2018Baron Brigade Invitational\u2019 @ Dekalb: 3rd Place<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>ISSMA Invitational @ Homestead: Gold Rating<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>ISSMA Regional @ Carroll: Gold Rating<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>ISSMA Semi-State @ Franklin Community: Participant &#8211; 12th Place<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Next up for the band will be their Winter Winds season with practices beginning in mid-November and competitions starting on February 10, 2024, at Franklin Central High School in Indianapolis.
