She also earned a bachelor\u2019s degree in nursing (BSN), beginning her studies with Manchester College and graduating from Goshen College. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She is a member of the Coalition of Advanced Practice Registered Nurses of Indiana and the American Association of Nurse Practitioners.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A native of Goshen, Schroeder moved to Fort Wayne to join the nursing team at Parkview as a registered nurse in 2012, working first as a bedside nurse with a variety of patients in the medical\/surgical area, and later earning her inpatient OB certification and serving as a labor-and-delivery nurse in obstetrics. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During her nurse practitioner training, she served OB and pediatric patients in multiple healthcare settings, including PPG \u2013 OB\/GYN, PPG \u2013 Pediatrics in Auburn and St. Martin\u2019s Healthcare. Schroeder said it was while she was completing her clinicals at the PPG \u2013 Pediatrics office that she discovered her passion for providing care and education to children and their families\/caregivers.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cHealthcare is so important,\u201d she said. \u201cI think it is crucial that we teach young people \u2013 and their caregivers \u2013 to understand how their bodies function.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While she enjoys working with pediatric patients from birth to age 18, Schroeder notes that providing care for newborns is a favorite activity. Eight years in labor and delivery have equipped her well to provide newborn assessments.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That trust is essential, Schroeder noted.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI strive to provide patient-centered care, and I would like my patients\u2019 caregivers to know that I hear them, that their concerns and questions about their children are valid,\u201d she said. \u201cWell-child checks provide a perfect opportunity to talk through those questions so I can provide guidance. In addition, I want children and teens to feel safe coming in to the office \u2013 to know that I will listen to their needs. My goal is to empower these individuals to know how strong they are and that their bodies belong to them.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Outside of work, Schroeder enjoys savoring a good cup of coffee, thrift shopping, baking, coloring, and organizing.
