FORT WAYNE, IN (June 8, 2023) – \ufeffScience Central unveiled a new exhibit, Build a Human Habitat on Mars, on Thursday, June 8.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This brand-new exhibit expands the footprint of the center\u2019s existing permanent exhibition Sun, Earth, Universe, located on Science Central\u2019s Top Level.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Build a Human Habitat on Mars is a hands-on exhibit designed to inspire, engage, and educate the next generation of explorers about the human exploration of Mars. Featuring a construction platform and building bricks, visitors will design their own imaginary habitat for successfully living and working on Mars. The exhibit includes a set of challenge cards that detail some of the difficulties people may face when establishing an outpost on Mars. These cards are intended to help guide visitors\u2019 design decisions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Martin S. Fisher, Science Central\u2019s executive director, says Build a Human Habitat on Mars is a worthy addition to Sun, Earth, Universe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe Sun, Earth, Universe exhibition is already a popular space in Science Central,\u201d says Fisher. \u201cIt does a great job educating visitors about the cosmos and now Build a Human Habitat on Mars expands the scope of that education to include planetary settlement, which is such an important topic for future explorers to be considering.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Build a Human Habitat on Mars was manufactured by the Science Museum of Minnesota, in collaboration with the National Informal STEM Education Network, and funded by a grant from the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
